CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 16th NOVEMBER 2022

  1. International Day for Tolerance is observed on 16 November every year with an aim to build tolerance among diverse cultures and spread the message that tolerance is an integral part of society.
  2. On the third Wednesday in November World COPD Day is observed. In 2022 World COPD Day is observed on 16 November. The theme of World COPD Day 2022 is “Your Lungs for Life”.
  3. National Press Day is observed on 16 November every year to acknowledge and honour the Press Council of India (PCI).
  4. Newborn Care Week is celebrated every year in the country form  15th to 21st of November. The theme of 2022 is “Home care of Newborn in Urban Area”.
  5. The Government of Tamil Nadu (TN) has declared an area of 686.406 sq. km in the reserve forests of Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri as the Cauvery South Wildlife Sanctuary.
  6. Wangala Festival of Meghalaya is one of the most popular festivals among the Garos of Meghalaya. Wangala Festival is a harvest festival that is held in honor of Saljong, the Sun-God of fertility.
  7. On 15 November 2022, Telugu actor and Producer, Padma Bhushan awardee Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, popularly known as Krishna, passed away in Hyderabad, telangana at the age of 79.
  8. Online beauty and fashion retailer Nykaa Fashion has named Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor as its brand ambassador for its two apps Nykaa Beauty and Nykaa Fashion.
  9. Padma Shree awardee and an Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games medallist Yogeshwar dutt, has been selected as the brand ambassador of Religare Enterprises Limited (REL), a financial services company.
  10. Jammu and Kashmir Government has developed Integrated Sheep Development Scheme (ISDS) and various other reforms and initiatives for modernization and promotion of the sheep farming sector.

  13. On 14 November 2022, Tony Estanguet, President of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games unveiled the mascots for Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, ‘The Phryges’, in Paris, France.
  14. The 18th edition of the Indo-US joint training exercise ‘YUDH ABHYAS 22’ is scheduled to be conducted in Uttarakhand in November, 2022.
  15. Switzerland women’s tennis team on 13 November, 2022 won the Billie Jean King Cup for the first time by defeating 7 time champion Australia in Glasgow, Scotland.
  16. As per the United Nations ‘World Population Prospects 2022’ report, India is projected to surpass China as the world’s most populous country in 2023.
