  1. Every year on 18 December, Minority Rights Day is observed to promote the rights of Minority Communities in India.
  2. International Migrants Day is observed annually on 18 December to bring attention to the social and economic realities of migrants around the world.
  3. The International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers is annually observed across the world on 17 December to focus attention on the hate crimes committed against sex workers across the globe.
  4. Messi’s Argentina clinched their 3rd World Cup trophy from six final appearances in history, seeing off France 4-2 on penalties (3-3 after extra time) to win the biggest prize in men’s football.

  1. The 2022 Global Food Security Index (GFSI) report was released by the British weekly The Economist.In this report, South Africa overtook Tunisia to become the most food-secure country in Africa.
  2. The International Energy Agency (IEA) in its annual report titled ‘Coal 2022: Analysis and Forecast to 2025’, claimed that China and India, the world’s two largest coal consumers, are also the world’s largest producers and top two coal importers.
  3. Actress Sonakshi Sinha has been awarded PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) India’s 2022 Person of the Year title for advocating animal adoption and vegan fashion.
  4. On 16 December, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated a football stadium at the PA Sangma Sports Complex at Dakopgre in Tura, Meghalaya.

  9.  Indian origin Leo Varadkar was elected as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland for the second time on 17 December, 2022.
  10.  The Indian women Hockey team won the inaugural FIH Nations Cup at Valencia, Spain on 17 December, 2022.
  11.  The 63rd Session of the Indian Historical Records Committee (IHRC) was inaugurated in Lucknow on 18 December, 2022.
