  1. Veer Bal Diwas was observed across India on 26 December to mark the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas- the sons of 10th Sikh guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh. 
  2. The 10th edition of the North East Festival began at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on 23 December, 2022. 
  3. President Bidya Devi Bhandari of Nepal appointed Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’as the new Prime Minister of Nepal on 25 December, 2022. 
  4. On 23 December 2022, Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYAS), launched the Khelo India Dashboard in New Delhi which has all the statistical data related to the Khelo India Scheme and the Khelo India events.
  5. FIFA has officially announced the 2022 world rankings. Brazil hold on to their 1st spot, 22nd FIFA Men’s World Cup 2022 Champions Argentina ranked 2nd and France ranked 3rd
  6. Drone manufacturer Garuda Aerospace has received the Type Certification and RPTO (Remote Pilot Training Organisation) approvals from the Director General of Civil Aviation for the indigenously designed kisan drones.
  7. India’s badminton star PV Sindhu is the only Indian sportsperson to feature in the top 25 of Forbes’ annual list of the world’s highest paid female athletes. 
  8. Former Vice-Chancellor of University of Mysore Professor K.S. Rangappa has been awarded a fellowship of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), a programme unit of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

  11. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States has granted Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) of Hawthorne, California, US, a contract for launch services for the ‘Sentinel-6B mission’ worth approximately USD 94 million.
  12. On 23 December 2022, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh launched an upgraded Inner Line Permit (ILP) System portal, for saving the indigenous population of Manipur.

  16. England’s legendary footballer George Cohen, who was a part of England’s 1966 Football World winning team, passed away at the age of 83.
