  1. Every year on 28 December the Indian National Congress (INC) celebrates its foundation day. 
  2. Recently Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s constituency has achieved a new record to become the only constituency in India to have a library in all the wards.
  3. Boxing Day Test between Australia and South Africa at the iconic MCG, Cricket Australia (CA) and Australian Cricket Association (ACA) in a joint-statement announced that Australia’s Men’s Test Player of the Year award will now be named in honour of the late Shane Warne.  
  4. Researchers in India, the US and Israel are currently trying to develop a drug to treat ‘GNB1 Encephalopathy’, a rare genetic disease. 
  5. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that a huge statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be installed and a research centre will be built as part his grand memorial in Gwalior. 
  6. The lower house of the Spanish Parliament approved a measure allowing individuals over the age of 16 to change their legally recorded gender without the need for medical supervision.

  8. G Kamala Vardhana Rao was appointed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on 29 December, 2022. 
  9. The Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak and Minister of State for Medical Education Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh inaugurated the ‘E-Sushrut’ Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) in 22 state medical colleges. 
  10. Indian Air Force successfully tested the extended range version of the BrahMos Air Launched Missile against the Ship Target in the Bay of Bengal from the SU-30 MKI fighter jet. 
  11. Noted Cuban social worker and human rights advocate, Aleida Guevara has been selected for the first KR Gouri Amma national award on 29 December, 2022. 
  12. President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the project ‘Development of Srisailam Temple in the State of Andhra Pradesh’ at Srisailam Temple Complex, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
  13. The Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched the Mobile App ‘Prahari’ and Manual of the Border Security Force (BSF) on 29 December, 2022.
  14. Ministry of Railways has launched the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to modernize railway stations across India. 
  15. The Government of India appointed the Vigilance Commissioner Praveen Kumar Srivastava as the acting Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) on 28 December, 2022.
  16. Brazilian football legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento, famously called Pelé, who won a record three world cups passed away aged 82 on 28 December, 2022.
