  1. India will set up its first waste-to-hydrogen project in Pune.  
  2. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated Mega Dairy at Mandya in Karnataka. 
  3. Ajay Kumar Srivastava has been elevated as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indian Overseas Bank with effect from 1 January, 2023 from his posting as Executive Director.
  4. The Reserve Bank of India’s Medium-term Strategy Framework for the period 2023-2025 – ‘Utkarsh 2.0’ was launched by Shri Shaktikanta Das, Governor, RBI. 
  5. Gujarat’s Amreli received India’s first In vitro fertilization (IVF) mobile device on 1 January, 2023.

  12. Nineteen-year-old Kolkata-based chess player, Koustav Chatterjee became India’s 78th Grandmaster in MPL 59th National Senior Chess Championship in New Delhi.
  13. The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) has launched the Prajjwala Challenge.

  15. On 1 January 2023, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister for Science and Technology, announced that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is ready to launch India’s first Atmanirbhar human flight ‘Gaganyaan’ by the year 2024.
  16. On 1 January, 2023 Tata group veteran and former Director of Tata Sons, Padma Shri Awardee R K Krishnakumar, passed away in Mumbai, Maharashtra at the age of 84.
