  1. National Youth Day is celebrated every year on 12 January to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a Hindu spiritual leader, philosopher and reformer in India. The theme of National Youth Day 2023 is “Viksit Yuva – Viksit Bharat”.
  2. An Indian-American aerospace industry expert, AC Charania, has been appointed as NASA’s new chief technologist.
  3. Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a 120-foot-tall statue of a polo player riding a pony at Marjing Polo Complex in Imphal, Manipur.
  4. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry is organising Startup India Innovation Week from 10 to 16 January, 2023 to celebrate the Indian Startup Ecosystem as well as National Startup Day (16 January, 2023).
  5. According to the On-Time Performance Review 2022 released by CIRIUM, the aviation analytics company, Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, Karnataka, and Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi were listed among the top 10 in the Top Performing Global Airports of 2022.
  6. On 9 January, 2023, the governments of India and the UK launched the Young Professionals Scheme, allowing upto 3,000 of their degree-holding citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 to live and work in each other’s nations for two years.

  10. In a major development, India has surpassed Japan in terms of auto sales last year to become the third-largest auto market globally for the first time.
