  1. 148th Foundation Day of India Meteorological Department (IMD) was celebrated on 15 January, 2023 in New Delhi.
  2. R’Bonney Gabriel from US was named the winner of the 71st annual Miss Universe pageant held in New Orleans, Mexico on 15 January, 2023.
  3. The MAARG (Mentorship, Advisory, Assistance, Resilience, and Growth) platform was launched by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on 16 January, 2023.
  4. Digital India Startup Hub, through the Software Technology Parks of India, shall set up India’s first Centre of Excellence in online gaming at Shillong, Meghalaya by March 2023. 
  5. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has signed Kewal Kiran Clothing, the maker of Killer Jeans, as the official partner of the Indian cricket team until 31 May, 2023, replacing gaming and esports company MPL.   
  6. Under its campaign of Nirogi Rajasthan, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has implemented the policy for Blindness Control with the objective of ‘Right to Sight’. With this, Rajasthan has become the first state to have such a policy.   
  7. Regional carrier Flybig commenced its services from Itanagar to Guwahati. The Flybig carrier has commenced flights from Hollongi in Arunachal Pradesh to Guwahati in Assam. 
  8. Brazil’s President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced Sônia Guajajara as the first Minister of the new Ministry of Indigenous People with a mandate to oversee policies ranging from land demarcation to health care.  
  9. Star cricketer Virat Kohli became the fifth-highest run-scorer in history of ODI cricket, overtaking Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene to enter into top-five on 15 January, 2023.
  10. The Central Government has extended the tenure of Managing Director (MD) and CEO of Bank of Baroda (BoB) Sanjiv Chadha for about five months till 30 June, 2023.
  11. Over 1,000 Indian peacekeepers serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) have been honoured with the prestigious UN medals at an award ceremony where the parade was led for the first time by a woman officer of the Indian Army.
