  1. World Leprosy Day (WLD) is annually celebrated across the globe on the last Sunday of January. In 2023, World Leprosy Day was observed on 29 January. The theme of World Leprosy Day 2023 is “Act Now. End Leprosy.” 
  2. Michelle Yeoh became the first Asian to bag an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her movie ‘The Everything Everywhere All at Once’.
  3. The Reserve Bank of India has approved JP Morgan Chase & Co. to appoint Prabdev Singh as the new Chief Executive Officer in India.
  4. Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi (Posthumous), Zakir Hussain, S M Krishna, Dilip Mahalanabis (Posthumous), Srinivas Varadhan and Mulayam Singh Yadav (Posthumous) were awarded with Padma Vibhushan Award on the eve of India’s 74th Republic Day.
  5. Oppo India and the Government’s Common Service Centre (CSC) Academy have announced training of 10,000 women in cybersecurity and cyber wellness in the country.

  12. The Indian Navy is conducting the 2023 edition of ‘Theatre Level Operational Readiness Exercise (TROPEX)’, a significant biennial maritime exercise, in the Indian Ocean region (IOR).

  15. Naresh Lalwani, a senior officer of the Indian Railway Engineering Service of 1985 batch has taken over as the new General Manager of Central Railway.
  16. The first nasal vaccination produced in India by Bharat Biotech against Covid-19, the iNCOVACC, was introduced by Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh and Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.
