Pakistan test-fires Ghaznavi Missile

Editor1 Sep 7 2021 Current Affairs

The Pakistan Army successfully test-fired a nuclear-capable surface-to-surface hypersonic ballistic missile Ghaznavi. The Ghaznavi missile can strike targets up to 290 kilometres and is capable of carrying nuclear as well as conventional warheads. The training launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of Army Strategic Forces Command (ASFC) and re-validating technical parameters of the weapon system.

It is powered by a single stage solid fuel rocket motor. This missile has been tested in both day and night modes. This indicates the high reliance of Army Strategic Force on the missile because it brings several Indian cantonments and military bases adjacent to border within its range.
