  1. International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development is observed on December 5 every year. The theme for International volunteer Day 2021 is “Volunteer now for our common future”.
  2. India and Bangladesh have decided to celebrate December 6, the day on which India formally recognized Bangladesh, as “Maitri Diwas” (Friendship Day). The Maitri Diwas is being commemorated in 18 countries around the world apart from Dhaka and Delhi.
  3. Himachal Pradesh has become the first state to fully vaccinate 100 percent of its adult population.
  4. Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Earth Station of Doordarshan Kendra at Gorakhpur.
  5. The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has been ranked ‘number one Cooperative’ among the top 300 cooperatives in the world.
  6. Senior bureaucrat Alua Upadhyaya has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI)  of 4 december.
  7. Pradip Shah, the founder of IndAsia Fund Advisors, has been appointed chairman of the National Asset Reconstruction Company (NARCL).
  8. The nation will have nine nuclear reactors by 2024 and a new nuclear project, the first in northern India, will come up 150 kms away from Delhi in Gorakhpur of Haryana, the government informed the Rajya Sabha.
  9. Private sector lender, Federal Bank has launched a feature-rich savings bank product for women. The savings scheme is called Mahila Mitra Plus and provides a curated set of features, designed to make financial planning and investments easy for women.
  10. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $500 million loan to the Government of India to help improve the quality of the country’s school education and mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on students’ learning.
  11. On the occasion of Assam Divas, the state government of Assam has decided to accolade renowned industrialist Ratan Tata with the ‘Asom Bhaibav’ award, the highest civilian state award for his contribution to cancer care in the state.
  12. Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairpeson, Reliance Foundation has been ranked second in the list of Fortune India’s Most powerful women. Nirmala Sitharaman has topped the list.
  13. Nikhil Srivastava India-American mathematician has won the Ciprian Faias Prize in December 2021.
  14. Veteran Journalist, Padma Shri awardee Vidon Dua passed away on December 4,2021.
  15. The Semeru volcano on the Indonesian island of Java erupted on 4 December, 2021.
