  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the phase 1 of Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi on December 13, 2021. The Dham has been constructed at a cost of around Rs 339 crores. 
  2. Twitter handle of Prime Minister Modi was briefly hacked early on December 12, 2021. A post claiming that India has officially adopted bitcoin as legal tender was tweeted from PM’s account.
  3. Maharashtra has topped the list of States with a maximum number of beneficiaries under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojona’.
  4.  NITI Aayog in partnership with Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, launched Convoke 2021-22.
  5. The NITI Aayog has planned to establish 1000 Atal Tinkering Laboratories in Jammu and Kashmir.
  6. Karnataka Bank has been conferred with two DigiDhan awards instituted by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
  7. Actor-model Harnaaz Sandhu made history as she was crowned Miss Universe 2021 beating contestants from 80 countries, 21 years after India last brought home the title.  In 2000 Lara Dutta won the tittle. Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreira, 22, finished second, South Africa’s Lalela Mswane, 24, came third.
  8. Azim Premji, founder chairman of Wipro Limited and founder of Azim Premji Foundation is this year’s recipient of the 10th annual Dr Ida S. Scudder Humanitarian Oration award.
  9. The Indian Council of Medical Research-Regional Medical Research Centre, Dibrugarh led by Senior Scientist Dr. Biswajit Borkakoty has prepared a kit that enables detection of Omicron Variant within 2 hours.
  10. The Indian Space Research Organization has signed an agreement with Chinese smart devices maker Oppo’s Indian arm to strengthen the research and development of the NavIC messaging service. NavIC is a messaging service platform, which provides regional navigation services covering the entire country and an area up to 1,500 km beyond the Indian boundaries.
  11. Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully test-fired Pinaka Extended Range (Pinaka-ER), Area Denial Munitions (ADM) and indigenously developed Fuzes. The test was conducted at Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the Odisha coast.
  12. India assumed the Chairmanship of Council of Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO) for 1 year from October 28, 2021.
  13. The Senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Harbans Kapoor passed away on December 12, 2021, in Dehradun. He was a former Speaker of Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly and also an eight-time MLA.
  14. Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a Rs 2653.05 crore (USD 350 million) policy-based loan to improve urban services in India.
  15. The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has granted Observer Status to International Solar Alliance (ISA) by adopting resolution 76/123.
  16. International Institute for Management Development (IMD) World Competitive Centre published its “World Talent Ranking Report”. Switzerland has retained its top spot. India has been ranked at 56th position. 
  17. The US, China and North Korea have agreed in principle on declaring a formal end to the 1950-53 Korean war and Seoul will push to make it happen.
  18. Reigning world chess champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway defended his title and won the FIDE World Championship in Dubai.
  19. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won Formula one title at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on 12 December 2021.
  20. Para-Athlete Chandeep Singh has bagged a Silver medal at Para world Taekwondo Championships.
