  1. The United Nations and World Health Organization marked December 27 as the ‘International day for Epidemic Preparedness’. In a bid to prepare for future outbreaks and sensitise people about epidemics on all levels.
  2. Union Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of cooperation Amit Shah relased the ‘Good Governance Index 2021’ on 25 December. Gujarat has topped the composite ranking in the Good Governance Index 2021.
  3. Tamil Nadu government has launched the Chief Minister (CM) Dashboard monitoring system, “CM Dashboard Tamil Nadu 360” in Chennai. It will enable CM to track all welfare schemes, including the status of their implementation, fund allocation, and the number of beneficiaries along with updates on the storage of water in dams and rainfall patterns.
  4. The Gujarat government on 26 December 2021 launched ‘Nadi Utsav’ or ‘River Festival’ to honour rivers for their contribution to the development of the state as well as to raise awareness about their protection.
  5. Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has approved a 3-year action plan to strengthen Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in the state.
  6. Equitas small Finance Bank has been empanelled as a banking partner of the Government of Maharashtra to offer its services to the state government employees.
  7. Vice-President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu has released the book titled “The Turnover Wizard – Saviour Of Thousands”, an autobiography of Arup Roy Choudhury, the former Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC Limited and NBCC (India) Limited.
  8. RBL Bank’s board has appointed Rajeev Ahuja, currently Executive Director, as the interim MD and CEO with immediate effect.
  9. Surat’s industrialist Viral Desai, popularly known as ‘Greenman’, has been awarded the prestigious Global Environment and Climate Action Citizen Award in Dubai.
  10. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Laid the foundation stone for Defence Technology and Test Centre (DTTC) and BRAHMOS Manufacturing centre on 26 December 2021. It is being established by DRDO in Lucknow.
  11. NASA launched world’s largest and most powerful space telescope in December 2021. The name of the telescope is ‘James web Space Telescope’.
  12. China on 26 December 2021 launched a new Satellite with a camera that can take pictures of the ground with a resolution of 5 m.
  13. Legendary Malayalam filmmaker K.S. Sethumadhavan has passed away at the age of 90 years. He directed over 60 movies in five languages including Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi during his career.
  14. Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who helped end apartheid in South Africa, passed away in December 2021.
  15. Mohammed Ben Sulayem of the United Arab Emirates has been elected successor to Jean Todt as the first non-European president of motorsport’s world governing body, the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
  16. Himachal Pradesh beat Tamil Nadu in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Rajasthan on 26 December
