  10. Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has inaugurated “Digi Zone”, at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, as part of its effort to enhance its digital footprint. LIC’s Digi Zone can be used by the customers to purchase policies online, pay the premium and avail of other services.

  12. German Researchers have discovered a trove of marine life hidden far beneath the ice shelves of the Antarctic.
  13. China, in Shanghai, has opened two new driverless metro lines. With the two new lines, the total of the City’s metro network extends to 831 kilometres.
  14. France took over the EU’s rotating presidency on 1 January 2022. France has taken over the Presidency for the first time in the last 14 years.
  15. Researchers have discovered the first signs of a magnetic field surrounding a planet outside of solar system. The discovery was made by an international team of astronomers using data from the Hubble Space Telescope.

  17. Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez has announced his retirement from international cricket on 3 January 2022.
