  1.  ‘World Day of War Orphans’ is observed on 6 January every year.
  2. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Integrated Terminal Building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala, Tripura.
  3. Union Minister of State Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the theme of National Science Day (NSD) 2022 on 5 January 2022. The theme for 2022 is “Integrated Approach in S & T for Sustainable Future”.
  4. Union Ayush Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal has laid the foundation stone of the Heartfulness International Yoga Academy in Hyderabad, Telangana.
  5. Himachal Pradesh became the first LPG enables, also, smoke-free state. This milestone was achieved due to the Ujjwala Scheme and Grahini Suvidha Yojana by Centre.
  6. The Punjab cabinet has decided to give Rs 2,000 as a one-time internet allowance to all students studying at higher educational institutions.
  7. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on 5 January 2022 inaugurated a two-day International Conference of academic institutions in Ahmedabad. 
  8. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is organizing a three-day national convention of Company Secretaries starting from 6 January 2022 in Bengaluru.
  9. The Kerala High Court is all set to become India’s first paperless court. Supreme Court judge Justice D.Y. Chandrachud inaugurated the smart courtrooms on 1 January 2022.
  10. Indian-origin American diplomat Atul Keshap has been appointed as the President of the U.S.- India Business Council (USIBC) by the US Chambers of Commerce. Atul Keshap replaces Nisha Desai Biswal.
  11. The Indian Council of Medical Rresearch (ICMR) has approved a kit that will be used to detect Omicron. The kit is manufactured by Tata Medical and Diagnostics and is named ‘OmiSure’.
  12. The country’s largest lender State Bank of India decided to enhance the free IMPS online transactions limit to Rs. 5 lakh from the Rs. 2 lakh in order to encourage customers to adopt digital banking.
  13. The preliminary data released by the commerce and industry ministry, India exported goods worth $37.29 billion in December, the highest ever in a month, as demand for items such as engineering products, petroleum items, and gems and jewellery continued to soar.
  14. The 1st ever Guinness World Record in Numerology and the first world record of 2022 have been achieved by one of India’s top numerologists J.C. Chaudhry.
  15. Social worker Sindhutai Sapkal, who was called as ‘Mother of Orphans’ passed away at the age of 73 years.
  16. Shillong Chamber Choir founder and noted music composer Neil Nongkynrih passed away in January 2022.
  17. Captain Harpreet Chandi, an Indian-origin British Sikh Army Officer, and physiotherapist also known as Polar Preet, has created history by becoming the ‘First Woman of Colour’ to complete a solo unsupported trek to the South Pole.
  18. Caribbean nation Antigua and Baubuda has become the 102nd Country to join International Solar Alliance.
