CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 26th JANUARY 2022 

  1. 73rd Republic Day of India is being celebrated on 26 January 2022. It was on this day in 1950 that the Indian Constitution came into effect.
  2. India’s 1st woman Rafale fighter jet pilot Shivangi Singh was part of the Indian Air Force tableau at the Republic Day parade 2022.
  3. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced the Padma awards on the eve of the country’s 73rd Republic Day. The Awards are given in three categories: ‘Padma Vibhushan’ (for exceptional and distinguished service), ‘Padma Bhushan’ (distinguished service of higher-order) and ‘Padma Shri’ (distinguished service).
  4. A total of 939 police personnel have awarded medals, ‘Police Medal for Gallantry’, on the occasion of Republic Day 2022.
  5. Ladakh Lieutenant Governor R. K. Mathur on 25 January 2022 awarded the first-ever “commendation certificates” to 10 personnel of the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
  6. 12 Shaurya Chakras have been awarded to Armed Forces personnel and others on the eve of 73rd Republic Day celebrations.
  7. The President of India has approved the conferment of the ‘Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards 2021’ on 51 persons.
  8. The President of India has approved the conferment of Correctional Service Medals on prison personnel on the occasion of Republic Day,2022.
  9. 29 officers and staff of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and customs have been selected for grant of Presidential Award of Appreciation Certificates and Medals for “Specially Distinguished Record of Services”.
  10. Olympian Neeraj Chopra honoured with ‘Param Vishisht Seva Medal’  on the eve of Republic Day by President Ram Nath Kovind.
  11. The Andhra Pradesh government has given a green signal for the creation of 13 new districts in the state. With this, Andhra Pradesh’s district count has increased to 26.

  16. Indian Movie’s  ‘Jai Bhim’ and ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ have been officially shortlisted for the Oscars 2022.
  17. Walmart-owned Flipkart has inked an MoU with Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer.
  18. ‘Meta’, Facebook parent company, has said that its newly unveiled artificial intelligence supercomputer will be the fastest in the world by mid-2022.
  19. Noted Kathakali dancer Milena Salvini of France passed away in January 2022.
  20. The women’s team from Ladakh wins the 9th National Women’s Ice Hockey Championship in Himachal Pradesh.
