  1. January 28 is celebrated as Data Privacy Day (DPD) across the world. The theme for this year is ‘Privacy Matters’.
  2. 28 January is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai, a veteran leader of the Indian Nationalist Movement.
  3. Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has released a 5-year roadmap and Vision Document 2.0 for the electronics sector. The Vision Document 2.0 titled “$300 bn Sustainable Electronics Manufacturing & Exports by 2026” has been prepared by MeitY in association with the India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA).
  4. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the second paperless budget on February 1, 2022.
  5. Indian Parliament has launched the ‘Digital Sansad App’ to make the Parliament proceedings accessible not just to the members but also to the public at large.

  8. The two indigenously made Advance Light Helicopters ALH-DHRUV MK III were inducted on 28 Jan 2022 in the fleet of Andaman Nicobar Command of the Indian Navy in Port Blair.

  11. Kerala gets its first Bird Atlas. The atlas has details of three lakh records of 361 species which includes 94 very rare species, 103 rare species, 110 common species, 44 very common species and 10 most abundant species. 
  12. India’s first innovation centre for graphene will be set up in Kerala by the Digital University Kerala (DUK), along with the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) in Thrissur, for Rs 86.41 crore.
  13. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) on January 28, 2022, granted its approval to Bharat Biotech for the trials of its intranasal Covid booster dose in India.
  14. India and the Philippines signed the 375 million deal for the sale of BrahMos supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles to the Philippines Navy, on 28 January 2022.
  15. Marathi author and social activist Anil Awachat passed away in January 2022.
  16. The 2022 Syed Modi International badminton tournament was held at Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Staedium in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
