  1. Indian Coast Guard is celebrating its 46th Raising Day on 1 February 2022.
  2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Pandit Jasraj Cultural Foundation on the occasion of the 92nd birth anniversary of the Indian classical vocalist. 
  3. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed permission to allow individuals to file an updated Income Tax Return within two years of the relevant assessment year under Union Budget 2022-23 on February 1, 2022.
  4. Sangoli Rayanna, a military school in Karnataka, is being built at Rs 180 crores by the state government. 
  5. The ‘Operation Sadbhawana’ was launched by the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir. The main aim of the project was to help people affected by terrorism in the region.
  6. The Global Centre of Excellence in Affordable and Clean energy was recently launched at IIT Dharwad. 
  7. Tata Group company, Tata Steel Long Products Ltd’s (TSLP) has acquired Odisha-based Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd. (NINL) for Rs 12,100 crore. 
  8. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the UPI ecosystem will observe February 1-7 as ‘UPI Safety and Awareness Week’ and the whole of February as ‘UPI Safety and Awareness Month’.
  9. A book titled ‘Operation Khatma’ has been released which is authored by journalists RC Ganjoo and Ashwini Bhatnagar.
  10. On February 1, 2022, SpaceX launched the Italian Earth-observation satellite, Cosmo-SkyMed Second Generation FM2 (CSG-2) after scrubbing the scheduled lift-off for fourth consecutive time. It was launched from a station in Florida, US.
  11. Italian President Sergio Mattarella was re-elected for a second term.
  12. A coral reef was recently discovered off the coast of Tahiti by experts. The reef stretches for two kilometers and is undisturbed by human activities or climate change.
  13. Indian men’s hockey player P.R. Sreejesh has won the ‘World Games Athlete of the Year’ award for 2021. He is the second Indian after Rani Rampal to win this award. 
  14. Indian teenager Unnati Hooda beat compatriot Smit Toshniwal, 21-18, 21-11, to claim the women’s singles title at the 2022 Odisha Open Badminton Tournament.
  15. World Champion Grand Master Magnus Carlsen defeated Grand Master  Fabiano Caruana and now leads the 2022 Tata Steel Chess Tournament by a full point.
