  1. The ‘World Wildlife Day’ is observed every year on March 3 to raise awareness about the world’s wild fauna and flora. World Wildlife Day will be celebrated in 2022 under the theme “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration”.
  2. March 3 is observed as ‘World Hearing Day’ to raise awareness on preventing deafness and hearing loss. The WHO, observed World Hearing Day for the first time on March 3 in 2007. The WHO has set “to hear for life, listen with care” as the theme for World Hearing Day 2022.
  3. The Assam government has extended the contentious Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA) in the state for six more months.
  4. Ministry of Defence has accorded in-principle approval to 4 projects under Make-I (Govt Funded) and 5 under Make-II (industry-funded) categories of Defence Acquisition Procedure 2020.
  5. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has announced that a committee will be set up for restoring the old pension scheme in the state. It will be set up under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Ram Subagh Singh.
  6. The 19th edition of India-US ‘Military Cooperation Group’ (MCG) meeting was held in Agra, Uttar Pradesh on March 1-2, 2022.
  7. Lt. Gen R.C. Tiwari has taken over as General Officer Commanding of Spear Corps. He is an ‘Ati Vishisht Seva Medal’ (AVSM) awardee and ‘Sena Medal’ awardee.
  8. Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct the Exercise ‘Vayu Shakti’ that will take place at Pokharan range in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on March 7. Rafale aircraft will participate for the first time in this exercise.
  9. LIC Mutual Fund has announced the appointment of T.S. Ramakrishnan as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
  10. Film production and distribution company Yash Raj Films (YRF) has named Akshaye Widhani as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
  11. Smt. Annapurna Devi, who is the Union Minister of State for Education  has given National ICT Awards to 49 teachers from all over the country.
  12. Adani Green Energy Ltd. stated that its subsidiary Adani Renewable Energy Holding Fifteen Limited has obtained a Letter Of Award (LOA) to build a 150-megawatt solar power plant.
  13. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has partnered Yatra.com and SBI Card to launch a co-branded ‘Yatra SBI Card’ on the RuPay network.
  14. US space agency, NASA, successfully launched the third in a series of four next-generation weather satellites, Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES), from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. The satellite is named as GOES-T.
  15. The United Nations has agreed to start negotiating a world-first global treaty on plastic pollution. Nearly 200 nations at the UN Environment Assembly in Nairobi unanimously agreed to create an intergovernmental committee to negotiate and finalize a legally binding plastics treaty by 2024.
  16. Indian shooter, Saurabh Chaudhary has won the gold medal in Men’s 10m Air Pistol event at the ongoing ‘2022 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup’ in Cairo, Egypt.
