CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 6th APRIL 2022

  1. The ‘International Day of Sport for Development and Peace’ is celebrated on 6 April every year. The theme for 2022 is, “Securing a Sustainable and Peaceful Future for All: The Contribution of Sport”.
  2. ‘World Table Tennis Day’ (WTTD), is annually observed across the globe on 6th April to celebrate table tennis, as well as the Universality and social inclusiveness the sport represents.
  3. A Project to set up “Hobby Hubs” in govt schools in Delhi with after-school dance, music, arts and crafts activities during the new academic session is in the works.
  4. NTPC has inked a pact with Gujarat Gas Ltd is an initiative to blend green hydrogen with Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supplied by Gujarat Gas Ltd.
  5. The Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change Bhupender Yadav launched ‘Prakriti’- an Awareness Mascot & Green Initiatives on Plastic.
  6. Three Integrated Clean Energy Material Acceleration Platforms were launched at the MI (Mission Innovation) Annual Gathering session on 4 April 2022.
  7. The ‘Gangaur festival’ is celebrated in Rajasthan and some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and West Bengal.
  8.  In Ladakh, a ‘community museum’ opened in the Gya-Sasoma villages of the Leh district to preserve and promote the region’s rich cultural history.
  9. JSW Infrastructure has commissioned its first container terminal at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) in Karnataka.
  10. The Government of India has appointed IFS Vinay Mohan Kwatra as the new Foreign Secretary of India.
  11. WUS, a SAAS (software as a service) based start-up, has been selected for the Acceleration program by Citi’s Social Innovation Lab.
  12. The Ohio State Senate has presented a citation to director Vivek Agnihotri in recognition of his film ‘The Kashmir Files’.
  13. The ‘Forbes Billionaires 2022’ list has been released. Elon Musk is leading with a net worth of $219 bn, followed by Amazon Chief Jeff Bezos at $171bn.
  14. Noted poet and litterateur Prof Ramdarash Mishra will be awarded the prestigious Saraswati Samman, 2021 for his collection of poems ‘Mein to Yahan Hun’, the KK Birla Foundation announced.
  15. Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan released the book “Birsa Munda – Janjatiya Nayak” on 5 April 2022.
  16.  A ‘Joint Parcel Product’ (JPP) of India Post and Indian Railway is being developed, wherein first-mile connectivity will be provided by the Department of Posts.
  17.  India is hosting the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) senior officials meeting from 6-8 April 2022.
  18.  Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched the ‘Digital Dashboard for District Ganga Committees (DGCs) Performance Monitoring System’ on 6 April 2022.
