CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 8th APRIL 2022

  1. ‘Army Ordnance Corps’ celebrated its ‘247th raising day’ on 8 April 2022. The Corps came into existence with the establishment of the ‘Board of Ordnance’ on 8th April 1775.
  2. Karnataka Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai establishing the ‘Nandini Ksheera Samridhi Cooperative Bank’ is a revolutionary initiative, which will provide greater financial strength for the milk producers.
  3. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan will launch the ‘Udyam Kranti Yojana’.
  4. Exports of agricultural products from India surpassed the USD 50 billion mark for the first time during the financial year 2021-22 (FY22), owing to significant growth in sugar, rice wheat and other cereals exports.
  5. The West Bengal Government has constituted a 10-member committee. It will examine the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and assess the need for a state-level policy on Education.
  6. The Uttar Pradesh government has signed an MoU for setting up medical colleges in the state’s Sambhal and Maharajganj districts under the public-private partnership mode.
  7. In a significant development, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to convert civil passenger aircraft to Multi Mission Tanker Transport (MMTT) aircraft in India.
  8. The ‘Gangaur festival’ is annually celebrated from the 1st day of the month of Chaitra, as per the Hindu Calender. The Day is celebrated by women (mostly married women) from across various parts of Central and Western India, majorly Rajasthan.
  9. The Reserve Bank of India in its monetary policy review has kept the repo rate unchanged at 4% and the reserve repo rate at 3.35%.
  10. The National Commission for Women launched an Anti-Human Trafficking Cell to improve effectiveness in tacking cases of human trafficking, raising awareness among women and girls, capacity building and training of Anti Trafficking Units and increasing responsiveness of law enforcement agencies.
  11. China Successfully launched a new Earth observation Satellite ‘Gaofen-3 03’ on April07, 2022, from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre on board a ‘Long March-4C’ rocket.
  12. The 9th Edition of the India-Kyrgyzstan Joint Special Forces Exercise was held in March-April, 2022 at Special Force Training School, Bakloh (HP).
  13. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has released India’s contribution of 72,124 Dollars to the UNESCO Fund for Elimination of Doping in Sport in 2022.
  14.  The Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) has received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies to certify certain electricity equipment.
  15.  An animation, Visual effects, gaming, and comics (AVGC) promotion task group has been established by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
  16.  The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully flight tested “Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet” (SFDR) booster on April 08,2022 at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.
  17. A photograph by Canadian Photographer Amber Bracken titled “Kamloops Residential School” has won the 2022 ‘World Press Photo of the Year’ Award.
