  1. World Press Freedom Day is observed globally on 3 May every year. It is also known as World Press Day. The day pays tribute to journalists who have lost their lives. The theme of World Press Freedom Day 2022 is ‘Journalism under digital siege’.
  2. Jio Saavn has named Sahas Malhotra, a former Amazon Music director and entertainment industry expert, as its new CEO.
  3. Maharashtra Cabinet approved the ‘Maharashtra Gene Bank’, a first-of-its-kind project in India to conserve genetic resources in Maharashtra including marine diversity, seeds of local crops and animal diversity.
  4. Bharati Airtel, India’s second-largest telecom operator, announced that the Airtel Startup Accelerator Program has acquired a 7% investment in Cnergee Technologies.
  5. PV Sindhu won her second Asian bronze medal at Asian Badminton Championships.
  6. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) changed the rules for banks to claim the amount of interest subsidies paid to farmers under the short-term crop credit plan via the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) during the previous fiscal year.  
  7. Union Bank of India became the first public sector bank to go live on the Account Aggregator (AA) ecosystem.
  8. Andy Jassy, current CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS) will become Amazon’s CEO on 5 July. He will replace Jeff Bezos.
  9. Red Shield Division of the Indian Army under the aegis of Spear Corps signed a tripartite agreement with the State Bank of India Foundation (SBIF) and the National Integrity and Educational Development Organization (NIEDO) to establish ‘Red Shield Centre for Excellence and Wellness’ in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.
  10.  IndiGo becomes the first airline in Asia to land its aircraft using the indigenous navigation system GAGAN.
  11.  The World Bank has approved a USD 47 million projects to support the Government of India’s Mission Karmayogi, a national program to build civil service capacity.
  12.  The Ministry of Railways and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to upgrade railway telecommunications.
  13.  Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) is set to build India's first indigenous hydrogen-fuelled electric vessels at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).
  14.  Maitanam is the first Indian sports documentary to feature among the elite list of global sports documentaries as a part of FIFA+ Originals.
  15.  ‘Miyan Ka Bada Halt’ railway station in Samdari Tehsil of Barmer, Rajasthan, has been renamed to ‘Mahesh Nagar Halt’.
  16.  Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced that a stadium will be built in Olympic gold-medallist Neeraj Chopra’s native village in Panipat.
