CURRENT AFFAIRS OF  9th  JULY 2022

  1. India has been elected to the Inter-Governmental Committee of UNESCO’s 2003 Convention for Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) for four years (2022-2026 cycle).
  2. The Chhattisgarh Cabinet on 7 July approved its Electric Vehicle (EV) policy. The aim of this policy is to create a robust charging infrastructure, ease the conversion of existing vehicles into hybrid or electric models and incentives manufacturing.
  3. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 7 July, 2022 unveiled the ‘Statue of Peace’ of Swamy Ramanujacharya in a temple in the Sonwar region at Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
  4. SBI General Insurance has launched the Cyber VaultEdge insurance plan, a comprehensive cyber insurance cover for individuals that provides protection against financial losses arising from cyber risks and attacks.
  5. According to Union Minister for Coal & Mines, Pralhad Joshi, under ‘India-Australia Critical Minerals Investment Partnership’, both the countries will explore investment opportunities in cobalt and lithium mineral assets.
  6. A team from National Monuments Authority lead by Shri Tarun Vijay, Chairman, National Monuments Authority, submitted a report on declaring Mangarh hillock in Rajasthan as a monument of National Importance in the year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
  7. Tech Giant, Google launched the Startup School India initiative, which aims to gather relevant information on startup building into a systematic curriculum to help 10,000 startups in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
  8. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated Akshaya Patra midday meal kitchen with cooking facility for one lakh students in Varanasi.
  9. The Ministry of Defence gave three private sector banks, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank Ltd. permission to offer financial support to it for the purchase of military equipment abroad.
  10.  Karnataka is slated to be the first state in India to establish an exclusive Research & Development (R&D) policy. A task Force has been formed to ensure its effective implementation.
  11.  India’s population of 224.3 million undernourished people has decreased over the past 15 years according to the UN report.
  12. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the report titled ‘Benchmarking India’s Payment Systems – Follow-on exercise’ in which India has emerged as leader in large-value digital payment system i.e. RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement).
  13.  Punjab National Bank (PNB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Air Force (IAF) under its flagship scheme, PNB Rakshak Scheme.
  14. Uttar Pradesh becomes first state in the country to have 13 expressways.
