CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 9th SEPTEMBER 2022

  1. The National Mission for Clean Ganga organized Himalaya Diwas on 9 September, in association with Naula Foundation. Himalaya Day 2022 was observed under the theme “Himalayas will be safe only when the interests of its residents are protected”.
  2. The International Day to Protect Education from Attack is an international observance established by a unanimous decision of the United Nations General Assembly in 2020. It is observed on 9 September of each year.
  3. World EV Day 2022 is observed on the 9th of September to emphasize the importance of e-mobility.
  4. The United States has issued a record of 82,000 student visas to Indians in 2022. Indian Students received more US student visas than any other country.
  5. The Union Cabinet has approved the MoU between the National Disaster Management Authority of India and the National Disaster Management Authority of the Republic of Maldives on cooperation in the field of disaster management.
  6. DRDO and Indian Army successfully completed six flight-tests of Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) system from Integrated Test Range Chandipur, off the Odisha coast, on 8 September, 2022.  
  7. In Bihar, Bhojpuri folk theatre artist Ram Chandra Manjhi passed away on 7 September, 2022.
  8. Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina conferred the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Student Scholarship in New Delhi on 7 September, 2022.
  9. The first Indian Defence Minister to visit Mongolia, Rajnath Singh was gifted a majestic horse ‘Tejas’ by President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh.
  10. The Union Cabinet has approved a policy on long-term leasing of Railways’ land as well as proposal to develop 300 Gati Shakti cargo terminals over the next five years.
  11. Peiter Elbers assumed the charge of Indigo’s Chief Executive Officer, over three months after he was announced as the replacement for outgoing CEO Ronojoy Dutta.
  12.  President Draupadi Murmu has launched the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan virtually on 9 September, 2022.
  13. Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-serving monarch, passed away at the age of 96 on 8 September, 2022.
  14.  Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on 8 September, 2022 inaugurated India’s longest rubber dam ‘Gayaji Dam’ on the Falgu river in Gaya.
  15.  India ranked 132 out of 191 countries in the 2021 Human Development Index (HDI) according to a report released by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
  16.  The Odisha govt has launched a rainwater harvesting scheme named ‘Community Harnessing and Harvesting Rainwater Artificially from Terrace to Aquifer (CHHATA)’.
