CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 18th SEPTEMBER 2022 

  1. World Bamboo Day is celebrated every year on 18 September  in order to raise awareness about the conservation of this extremely useful plant. World Bamboo Day was first celebrated in 2009.
  2. International Equal Pay Day, celebrated on 18 September, represents the longstanding efforts towards the achievement of equal pay for work of equal value.
  3. International Red Panda Day is celebrated every year on the third Saturday of September. In 2022, this day fell on 17 September.
  4. The Karnataka government has announced to celebrate, late Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar’s birthday, 17 March, as ‘Inspiration Day’.
  5. A book titled ‘Ambedkar and Modi: Reformer’s Ideas Performer’s Implementation’ was released by former President Ram Nath Kovind in New Delhi on 16 September, 2022. 
  6. A three-day international conference ANGAN 2022 (Augmenting Nature by Green Affordable New-habitat), titled ‘Making the Zero-Carbon Transition in Buildings’ began on 14 September, 2022.
  7. CSB Bank Limited has announced the appointment of Pralay Mondal as the MD and CEO of the bank for a period of three years starting from 15 September 2022.
  8. Adani Group’s Chairperson Gautam Adani has surpassed Amazon’s Jeff Bezos to become the world’s second richest person.
  9. Prominent Indian scientist and Vice Chairperson of Piramal Group Swati Piramal has been conferred with the France’s top civilian honour ‘Knight of the Legion of Honour’.
  10. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) and UNICEF on 16 September 2022 launched the Doordarshan and YouTube series titled ‘Door Se Namaste’ in New Delhi.
  11.  Auto Industry Body Society of India Automobile Manufactures (SIAM) on 15 September 2022 elected Vinod Aggarwal as its new president for 2022-23.
  12.  Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on 16 September 2022 presented ‘INSPIRE’ awards to 60 Start-Ups and financial support to over 53,000 students.
  13.  15-year-old, Pranav Anand from Bengaluru, Karnataka became India’s 76th Chess GrandMaster after winning against International Master Emin Ohanyan of Armenia.
  14.  India is going to have its first Forest University. The Forestry universities Act 2022 was approved by the Telangana Assembly.
  15.  BVR Subrahmanyam (IAS) has been appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO).
