  1. World Teachers' Day or International Teachers' Day is observed every year on 5 October. This year marks the 28th anniversary of World Teachers' Day and the theme is "The Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers".
  2. The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2022 was awarded jointly to Carolyn R. Bertozzi, Morten Meldal and K. Barry sharpless 'for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry' at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm.
  3. Roxy Mathew Koll, a scientist at the Pune-based Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), received the American Geophysical Union's (AGU) 2022 Devendra Lal Memorial Medal.
  4. A 1985 batch officer of the Indian Ordnance Factory Service (IOFS), Sanjeev Kishore has taken over as the Director General of the Indian Ordnance Factory with effect from 1 October, 2022 upon the superannuation of M K Garg.
  5. Sandeep Kumar Gupta assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL (India) Limited.
  6. Saudi Arabia has won the bid to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games at a planned Mountain Resort in the Gulf Arab State.
  7. Union Home Minister Amit Shah announces that Pahari Community in Jammu and Kashmir will get a Scheduled Tribe status and political reservations before Assembly elections.
  8. The Saudi Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission has launched Riyadh International Book Fair Award.
  9. The Pullampara village panchayat in the Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala has become the first totally digitally literate panchayat in the country.
  10. Punjab National Bank announced that it has made banking services available to both clients and non-customers via WhatsApp.

  12. The SASTRA Ramanujan Prize for 2022 will be awarded to Yunqing Tang, Assistant Professor at the University of California, U.S.A.
  13. Former German chancellor Angela Merkel on 4 October, 2022 won the United Nations refugee agency's prestigious Nansen Award.
  14. The Rest of India (ROI) team defeated Saurashtra by eight wickets at the Saurashtra Cricket Stadium, Rajkot, to win the Irani Cup Title on 4 October, 2022.
  15. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on 4 October, 2022 approved changing the name of Faizabad Cantonment in Uttar Pradesh to Ayodhya Cantonment.
