CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 20th OCTOBER 2022

  1. Every year on 20 October , International Chefs Day is observed to honour the culinary masters who have protected the value of food and are passing on the same message to future generations. The theme for this year is “Growing A Healthy Future”.
  2. World Statistics Day is celebrated annually on 20 October to recognize the importance of statistics in our daily lives. The theme of World Statistics Day 2022 is “Data for Sustainable Development”. 
  3. World Osteoporosis Day is celebrated every year on 20 October across the world. The theme of World Osteoporosis Day 2022 is: “Step Up For Bone Health”.
  4. On 20 October, National Solidarity Day is observed. This day honours war’s bravery, the war soldier’s family, and defence armed forces in Military, Navy and Air soldiers.
  5. Global Dignity Day is observed every year on the third Wednesday of October. This year Global Dignity Day is observed on the 19th of October.
  6. American historian and internationally acclaimed scholar of South Asian history and Islam, Barbara Metcalf, on 17 October received the Sir Syed Excellence International Award for 2022.
  7. Union Minister Jitendra Singh on 18 October, 2022 launched an integrated portal aimed at ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ for the central government pensioners.
  8. Civil Accounts Service officer Bharati Das took charge as the new Controller General of Accounts (CGA) on 18 October, 2022.
  9. Youth from 70 countries has participated in a Global Youth Climate Summit inaugurated on 20 October, 2022 in Khulna, Bangladesh. 
  10. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated Asia’s largest Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant in Punjab’s Sangrur on 18 October, 2022.
  11. A national conference of tourist police officers of states held in New Delhi on 19th October, 2022 on the effective implementation of a uniform tourist police scheme across the country.
  12. Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha on the 18 October, 2022 inaugurated the state’s first government-run English Medium College.
  13. Madhya Pradesh Wildlife Board approved a new reserve for tigers of Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR).
  14. Paytm Payments Bank has appointed Deependra Singh Rathore as the interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), in addition to his role as Chief Product and Technology Officer.
  15. Life Insurance Company (LIC) has launched the ‘LIC Dhan Varsha’ scheme.
