1. Central Vigilance Commission observes Vigilance Awareness Week during the week in which 31^st of October, the birthday of the late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel falls. This year, Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed from 31 October to 6 November, 2022 with the theme “Corruption-free India for a developed Nation”.
2. 2 November has been observed as the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists (IDEI) since 2013. The theme of 2022 is “Protecting Media to Protect Democracy”.
3. Zojila Day was commemorated at Zojila War Memorial near Drass on 1 November, 2022.
4. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all higher education institutions to observe ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Diwas’ on 11 December every year.
5. Arunachal Pradesh will establish a fish museum, the first-of-its-kind in the North-East Region (NER) with, all fish species across the district from Tawang to Longding, to attract tourists, fish lovers and the museum will also serve as a training centre for fish farmers.
6. A group of researchers of the Travancore Nature History Society’s Odonata Research Group (TORG) has discovered a new species of damselfly named, Francy’s Reedtail (Protosticta francyi), in the Kanichar gram panchayat of Kannur district, which forms a part of the Brahmagiri Hills of Western Ghats.
7. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has inaugurated North India’s first hyper-scale data centre Yotta Yotta D1 built at the cost of Rs 5,000 crore and spread over an area of 3,00,000 square feet at the upcoming Data Centre Park in Greater Noida.
8. On 31 October, 2022 China launched a lab module named Mengtian to be part of its space station which is currently under construction and will be completed by the end of 2022.
9. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina conferred the prestigious ‘Friends of Liberation War’ honour on former US Senator Edward M Kennedy posthumously in Dhaka for his contribution to the liberation of Bangladesh. The honour was handed over to his son Edward M Ted Kennedy Junior.
10. The Supreme Court on 31 October, reiterated the ban on the 'two-finger test' in rape cases, warning that persons using such tests will be deemed guilty of misconduct.
11. Assam’s eminent artist, Neel Pawan Baruah has passed away at the age of 84 after a prolonged illness.
12. The Union government has decided to grant Indian citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan, and currently living in two districts of Gujarat under the Citizenship Act, 1955.
13. Giridhar Aramane, a 1988-bactch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh Cadre, assumed charge as the Defence Secretary on 1^st November, 2022.
14. Sheikh Sultan AI Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah city of UAE, on 1^st November, 2022 inaugurated the 41^st Sharjah International Book Fair.
15. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1^st November, 2022 declared Mangarh Dham in Rajasthan a national monument.
