1. On 7 December, International Civil Aviation Day is observed globally. The theme for International Civil Aviation Day 2022 is, “Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development”.
2. Every year on 7 December, India commemorates Armed Forces Flag Day in order to raise donations for the welfare of the Armed Forces Staff.
3. Indonesia’s Mount Semeru volcano erupted in December 2022. Indonesia sits on the Pacific ‘Ring of Fire’ where tectonic plates collide, causing frequent volcanic activity as well as earthquakes.
4. The telecom major Airtel has announced that it has collaborated with Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta) to support the growth of India’s digital ecosystem.
5. India’s premier show on Technical Textiles- ‘Technotex 2023’ will be held in Mumbai from 22 to 24 February, 2023.
6. The 51^st anniversary of ‘Maitri Diwas’ marking the recognition granted to Bangladesh by India in 1971 was celebrated in Dhaka on 6 December.
7. According to reports, Deepika Padukone will unveil the FIFA World Cup trophy on 18 December at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Qatar.
8. Indian shuttlers, led by Para World Championships bronze medallist Sukant Kadam, shone at the Peru Para Badminton International in Lima by clinching six gold medals.
9. The researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) have developed a device called Sindhuja-I or ‘Ocean Wave Energy Converter’, that can generate electricity from sea waves. Sindhuja means “created from the ocean” in Sanskrit.
10. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on 5 December launched the trophy tour of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 in Bhubaneswar, handing over the trophy to Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey.
11. Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has started for first time interactive WhatsApp services for its registered LIC policyholders.
12. Google’s Jigsaw subsidiary is launching a new anti-misinformation project in India, aimed at preventing misleading information that has been blamed for inciting violence.
13. According to GroupM’s global end-of-year forecast, India is expected to surpass Brazil to become the eighth-largest advertising market in 2023.
14. Researchers from the Public Health foundation of India and University of Leicester (England) have been awarded a prestigious grant of nearly EURO 10 million by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Global Health Research Centre, United Kingdom.
15. 17th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) is taking place in Singapore from 6-9 December.
16. On 4 December 2022, Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD), Dheeraj Gupta inaugurated Jammu & Kashmir’s first FASTag-enabled Parking Management System at Multi-Level Car Parking General Bus Stand Jammu.
17. On 5 December 2022, a comprehensive migration and mobility partnership was signed between India and Germany for easier access to study, research and work between both countries.
