  1. Every year, 22 December is observed as National Mathematics Day to mark the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, a legendary Indian mathematician.  
  2. The fifth Scorpène submarine, Vagir of Project–75 Kalvari Class submarines has been delivered to the Indian Navy by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) Mumbai scheduled to be commissioned into service in January. 
  3. Latvia hosted the third summit meeting of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) on 19 December, 2022 in Riga, Latvia. 
  4. Union Minister for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh has revealed that India had jumped from 7th to 3rd in global scientific publications and scholarly output, according to a report by America’s National Science Foundation. 
  5. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari launched India’s first-ever ‘Surety Bond Insurance’ product from Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company to reduce the dependence of infrastructure developers on bank guarantees. 
  6. Jammu & Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on 20 December declared the All India Inter-University Fencing Championship 2022-23 open at Jammu University. 
  7. According to the Institute for Competitiveness and Social Progress Imperative report, India secured a global rank of 110 with score of 60.19 in Tier 4 countries in the annual 2022 Social Progress Index (SPI). Puducherry, Lakshadweep and Goa have emerged as best-performing among all states and Union Territories. 
  8. The UN Security Council has adopted its first-ever resolution on Myanmar in 74 years to demand an end to violence and urge the military junta to release all political prisoners, including ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi.   
  9. On 20 December 2022, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Administration of Ladakh Union Territory (UT), conferring preferential status to each other. 
  10. On 20 December, 2022 The United World Wrestling (UWW) announced that the 36th Asian Wrestling Championships 2023 will be held in New Delhi, from 28 March to 20 April, 2023.
  11. Indian actor and Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan has become the only Indian to be named on the 50 greatest actors of all time list of Empire Magazine, a British monthly film magazine. 
  12. Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology, Govt. of India, Ashwini Vaishnaw has been appointed as the Chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara, Gujarat by Hon’ble President Smt. Draupadi Murmu. 
  13. NASA’s Perseverance rover deposited the first of several samples onto the Martian surface on 21 December, 2022. 
  14. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the second version of ‘Orunodoi’, the flagship scheme of the state government aimed at providing financial security to financially disadvantaged families. 
  15. According to the Ministry of Earth Science, the Samudrayaan Mission is expected to be released by the year 2026. 
  16. Lance Naik Bhairon Singh Rathore, a BSF veteran and hero of the 1971 India-Pakistan War, passed away in Jodhpur at the age of 81 on 20 December, 2022.
