  1. Kisan Diwas or Farmers Day in India is celebrated on 23 December every year. 
  2. The 15th Conference of Parties (COP15) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) adopted the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) on 19 December, 2022. 
  3. The Tamil Nadu government has announced that all those who are eligible for benefits (other than minor children) under various government schemes are required to submit proof of possession of an Aadhaar number or undergo Aadhaar identification. 
  4. The Union Ministry of Culture announced on 20 December, 2022 that Vadnagar town, and Sun Temple Modhera, Gujarat and rock-cut relief sculptures of Unakoti in Tripura, have been added to the tentative list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. 
  5. Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) became the country’s first carbon-neutral power exchange.
  6. On 20 December 2022, Sports brand Puma India announced Bollywood actress and entrepreneur Anushka Sharma as its new Brand Ambassador, part of its ongoing commitment towards the women’s business in India. 
  7. The Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar has got A grade by scoring 3.85 points in National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grading, thereby becoming the only university in India to get this score. 
  8. Aloke Singh has been appointed as the chief of Air India’s low-cost airline business with effect from 1 January, 2023. 
  9. Tata Projects Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), Dehradun, Uttarakhand, to jointly work towards clean energy solutions. 
  10. Chancellor Olaf Scholz on 17 December, 2022 inaugurated Germany’s first liquefied natural gas terminal. 
  11. Union Minister of State for Space and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh has announced that India’s maiden human space flight ‘H1’ mission is targeted to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2024. 
  12. A meeting of the Joint Task Force Committee of ‘India-Indonesia Investment and Business Forum’ was held in Port Blair on 20 December, 2022. 
  13. The Gujarati-language Chhello Show (The Last Show), which is India’s official entry for the 2023 Academy Awards or Oscars awards in the International Feature film category, has been shortlisted. The track Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been shortlisted in the Best Original Song Category. 
  14. Reigning World champion Nikhat Zareen and 2019 World Champions silver medalist Manju Rani recorded commanding victories to enter the quarterfinals in their respective weight categories on the third day of the National women’s boxing championships on 22 December, 2022. 
  15. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) will soon introduce ‘Bima Vahaks’ in each Gram Panchayat in order to strengthen the insurance force in India.
  16. Priya Mohan Sinha, former Chief Executive of PepsiCo India who first ‘Indianised’ colas in India, passed away on 21 December, 2022.
