  1. Union Minister of State Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh released the theme for the National Science Day 2023, titled “Global Science for Global Wellbeing” at National Media Centre.  
  2. Axis Bank has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, to establish a Centre for Mathematics and Computing at the institute.
  3. The 83rd All India Presiding Officers Conference hold in Jaipur on 11-12 January, 2023. Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the conference and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla presided over the conference.  
  4. Nutrition company Herbalife Nutrition India Private Limited has partnered with international women’s cricketer, Smriti Mandhana as a ‘nutrition sponsor’. 
  5. Techno-educationalist, Professor K.K. Abdul Gaffar’s autobiography, ‘Njaan Sakshi’ (me as the witness), was released by Cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni. 
  6. Amul Federation’s Managing Director RS Sodhi, who has been leading the dairy giant since 2010, stepped down on 9 January as the board decided to end his tenure with immediate effect. He has been replaced for an interim period by Jayan Mehta, Amul’s incumbent Chief Operating Officer. 
  7. Composer MM Keeravani, along with singers Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj, has won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song, for the track ‘Naatu Naatu’, from epic drama ‘RRR’. 
  8. According to the latest Henley Passport Index, Japan has retained its position as the most favourable passport in the world, allowing visa-free entry to 193 global destinations.
  9. IIT-Kharagpur has handed over to Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) a new software that it developed to detect defects in welding from the radiography images taken of an object. 
  10. The government has reappointed Michael Patra as Deputy Governor of the Reserve bank of India for an additional period of one year with effect from 15 January, 2023.

  13. Meta announced the appointment of former Tata CLiQ CEO Vikas Purohit as the Director of global business group in India. 
  14. Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Parshottam Rupala inaugurated 29 Mobile Veterinary Units (MVU) and a centralized call center in Thiruvananthapuram for benefit of the livestock farmers in Kerala. 
  15. Gareth Bale has announced his retirement from professional football on 9 January, 2023 at the age of 33. 
  16. On 10 January, 2023, Constantine II, the former and last king of Greece who ruled Greece before the country became a republic in 1974, passed away in Athens, Greece, at 82.
