  1. Indian Army Day is celebrated on 15 January every year. This year India celebrated 75th anniversary of the Indian Army Day.
  2. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, along with Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, inaugurated the School of Logistics, Waterways and Communication in Agartala.
  3. On 9 January, 2023 Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of Gabon, appointed Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda as the first-ever female Vice-President of Gabon.
  4. Kerala kicked itself into the Guinness Book of World Records by taking 4500 penalty kicks within a span of 12 hours at the Dream Goal Penalty Shootout organised at the Payyanad Stadium in Malappuram district on 10 January, 2023. 
  5. Jadunama, a book written on veteran writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar by Arvind Mandloi, was released on 9 January, 2023.   
  6. First female fighter pilot, Su-30MKI Squadron Commander Avani Chaturvedi, participated in the inaugural air exercise Veer Guardian 2023. 
  7. The National Centre for Drinking Water, Sanitation and Quality in Kolkata has been renamed as Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee National Institution of Water and Sanitation, the government announced on 11 January, 2023. 
  8. Falak Mumtaz, an 11-year-old girl from Jammu and Kashmir has bagged a gold medal in the 23rd National Sqay Championship. 
  9. Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (retd) has approved the 30 percent reservation to domicile women of the state in the government jobs bill. 
  10. State Bank of India has launched e-Bank Guarantee (e-BG) facility in association with National e-Governance Services Limited (NeSL). 
  11. On 12 January 2023, Cognizant IT head has announced former Infosys Chairman Ravi Kumar as its new Chief Executive Officer. 
  12. The Indian High Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka to establish a Hindi Chair as a part of India’s cultural connection through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
  13. Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and drone market Garuda Aerospace have launched a surveillance drone named ‘Droni’. Dhoni is an ambassador-cum-investor in the low-cost drone manufacturer.
  14. Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of UAE, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber has been named as the President of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
  15. Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with chapters of 8 countries of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) at the 17th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas convention.
  16. A British linguist and educator specialised in Dravidian languages, Ronald E. Asher passed away at the age of 96.
