  1. India celebrated its 74th Republic Day on 26 January, 2023. The Republic Day events and parade were held at the newly-renovated and renamed Kartavya Path (previously known as Rajpath) in New Delhi. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was the chief guest of the 74th Republic Day. 
  2. The World Customs Organisation (WCO) marks International Customs Day on 26 January every year to acknowledge the role of customs officials in managing the efficient flow and exchange of goods and services across countries. The theme of International Customs Day 2023 is “Nurturing the Next Generation: Promoting a Culture of Knowledge-sharing and Professional Pride in Customs”. 
  3. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio has ranked as the strongest brand in India and placed ninth among the world’s strongest brands, according to the latest report ‘Global 500 – 2023’ published by Brand Finance. 
  4. Vedanta Cairn Oil & Gas, India’s largest private oil and gas exploration and production company announced that it has appointed Nick Walker as the Chief Executive Officer of the company.   
  5. Hindustani vocalist Dr. Prabha Atre was conferred with the Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia Lifetime Achievement award on 22 January, 2023. 
  6. Aparajito (The Undefeated) film got the best scriptwriting award during the Asian Film Competition section at the 21st Dhaka International Fim Festival (DIFF) held in Bangladesh.
  7. Amidst the ongoing standoff with China, Indian Air Force (IAF) is going to conduct exercise ‘PRALAY’ in Northeast India from 1-5 February, 2023. 
  8. The 6-day mega event ‘Bharat Parv’ is being organised at Red Fort in Delhi from 26-31 January, 2023 as part of the Republic Day celebrations.

  13. India claimed the top spot in ICC Men’s ODI rankings after 3-0 series win over New Zealand at the Holkar stadium in Indore.
  14. Narcotics Control Bureau showcased a tableau for the first time in Republic Day Parade 2023 highlighting the message of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’.
  15. India has been elected as Vice-Chair in the 12th session of the FAO’s Intergovernmental Technical Working Group (ITWG) on Animal Genetic Resources (AnGR) for Food and Agriculture, held in Rome from 18-20 January, 2023.
  16. Former Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Harjeet Singh Arora passed away on 21 January, 2023 at the age of 61.
