  1. Safer Internet Day is annually observed across the globe on the second day (Tuesday) of the second week of February to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns and to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. Safer Internet Day 2023 is observed on 7 February, marking the 20th edition of SID.
  2. The Supreme Court of India completed 73 years on 4 February, 2023. Singapore’s Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon addressed on 73rd anniversary of Supreme Court of India.  
  3. New India Assurance (NIA) has launched a ‘Pay as You Drive (PAYD)’ policy, which offers a comprehensive motor insurance policy that charges a premium based on the usage of the vehicle. The policy has two components- Third Party cover and own-damage cover.
  4. In Mumbai, Mobicule, a specialist in debt collection, has announced the release of its mCollect Repossession module, an industry first for banks and NBFCs.
  5. Economics professor and researcher Shamika Ravi has been appointed as a member of the Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister (EAC-PM).
  6. Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Thakur was the Chief Guest of the 36th Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival (Antarnaad) held at Jammu University in Jammu and Kashmir on 4 February, 2023.
  7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the world’s most popular leader with an approval rating of 78 percent as per a survey by a US-based consulting firm ‘Morning Consult’.
  8. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced that the Saudi Arabia will host the Football’s 2027 Asian Nations Cup, for the first time in its history, since its inception in 1956.
  9. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the first VFS Global Joint Visa Application Centre in Lucknow on 4 February, 2023.
  10. The central ice hockey team of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has won the 12th edition of the Ice Hockey Association of India (IHAI) National Ice Hockey Championship for Men- 2023 organized in Leh, Ladakh. 
  11. Sri Lanka celebrated 75 years of Independence on 4 February 2023, under the theme Namo Namo Matha- A step towards a century.
  12. The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) launched ‘Bal Mitra’, a WhatsApp Chatbot to provide communication support to children and parents in Delhi.
  13. Author Dr Peggy Mohan has bagged the ‘Mathrubhumi Book of The Year’ award at the fourth edition of Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL 2023) for her book ‘Wanderers, Kings and Merchants’.
  14. Australia announced that it will erase the British monarch from its banknotes, replacing the late Queen Elizabeth II’s image on its $5 note with a design honoring indigenous culture.
  15. Indian Railways has introduced ‘Garvi Gujarat’ tour under ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ scheme to showcase heritage of Gujarat. 
  16. Padma Bhushan awardee legendary playback singer from the South film industry Vani Jayaram passed away on 4 February, 2023 at the age of 78.
