  1. The International Day of Happiness is annually observed across the globe on 20 March to emphasize the importance of happiness and the overall well-being of individuals.  The theme of International Day of Happiness 2023 is “Be Mindful, Be Grateful, Be Kind.”  
  2. World Oral Health Day is observed globally every year on 20 March, with the primary objective of increasing awareness about the significance of oral health. The theme of World Oral Health Day 2023 is “Be Proud of Your Mouth”.
  3. World Sparrow day is annually observed across the globe on 20 March to create awareness about the importance of sparrows or common house sparrows (Passer domesticus) and to promote the efforts towards their conservation.
  4. World day of Theatre for Children and Young People is annually observed across the globe on 20 March to attract the attention of a wider public to the art of theatre for children and young people.
  5. Meghalaya has got the electric trains for the first time after the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has commissioned the 22.82 km single-line track of Dudhnai-Mendipathar railway line and 34.59 track kilometre between the Abhayapuri-Pancharatna double-line section on 15 March, 2023. 
  6. Padma Shri awardee and renowned Carnatic vocalist and musician Bombay Jayashri has been chosen for the coveted Sangita Kalanidhi award of the prestigious Music Academy, Chennai.
  7. India and the Maldives conducted the 4th Defence Cooperation Dialogue in Male on 19 March, 2023 which was co-chaired by Defence Secretary, Giridhar Aramane and his Maldivian counterpart, Chief of Defence Force, Maldives National Defence Forces Major General Abdulla Shamaal.
  8. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on 17 March, 2023 announced 19 new districts and 3 new divisions in the state, taking the number of districts to 50 and divisions to 10.
  9. Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, a leader of the Janata Samajbadi Party, has won the election to become Nepal’s third Vice President.
  10. Lalit Kumar Gupta has been approved as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).

  13. Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio arrived in New Delhi on 20 March, 2023 for a two-day visit to India and had a meeting at Hyderabad House with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during which Kishida invited the Indian PM to the G-7 Leaders Summit in Japan in May.
  14. The first Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train originating from the Telugu states-Telangana and Andhra Pradesh commenced its journey from Secunderabad Railway Station on 18 March, 2023.
  15. Sergio Perez won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on 19 March, 2023.
  16. Actor Lance Reddick, who's popular for films like ‘John Wick’, ‘The Wire’, passed away on 17 March, 2023 at the age of 60.
