  1. International Romani Day is annually observed across the globe on 8 April to celebrate the Romani culture and create awareness about the difficulties faced by the Romani community across the globe.
  2. The famous Banarasi Paan and Langda Mango of Varanasi received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag from the government on 3 April, 2023.
  3. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on 3 April 2023, approved a proposal for giving 8% interest subsidy on loans obtained by the members of women’s self-help groups (SHGs) from Mahila Nidhi.
  4. India has become the first country in the world to develop a country-level mathematical model to estimate the prevalence of tuberculosis (TB) cases in the country.
  5. Archana Khosla Burman has taken over as the Chairperson of the Mumbai Chapter of the FICCI Ladies Organisation on 1 April, 2023.
  6. Bahrain launched the ‘Golden Licence’ initiative to encourage investment and job creation in the country.
  7. PhonePe, on 4 April 2023, launched a new consumer-facing application ‘Pincode’ which will be integrated into India’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) framework.
  8. Renowned gynecologist and obstetrician, Dr. R G Patel, on 2 April 2023, was appointed as an expert member of the National Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy Board by the Union Health Ministry.
  9. PM Narendra Modi and King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck held a bilateral meeting in New Delhi on 5 April, 2023.
  10. Sanjita Chanu, a weightlifter from India who has won the Commonwealth Games twice, has been banned for four years by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) of India after she tested positive for banned drugs.
  11. The Government has successfully conducted Social Audits in all the 4291 Gram Panchayats of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir to improve transparency and accountability in the implementation of various government schemes and programmes.
  12. A new book in Hindi titled ‘Gandhi: Siyasat aur Sampradaiykta’ (Gandhi: Politics and Communalism) written by journalist-turned-author Piyush Babele, who currently heads the Madhya Pradesh Congress’ media department will be launched.
  13. Bandipur National Park, located in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, completed 50 years as a Project Tiger Reserve on 1 April, 2023.
  14. According to the India Justice Report (IJR) 2022, which assesses the performance of states in terms of justice delivery, the state of Karnataka has achieved the top rank among the 18 large and mid-sized states with populations over one crore.  
  15. The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to set up Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission for the recruitment of teachers in the state.
  16. On 8 April, 2023 the Ministry of Finance celebrated the 8th anniversary of the launch of Pradhan Mantri MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) Yojana (PMMY).
