  1. International Girls in ICT Day is annually celebrated on the fourth Thursday of April to encourage and empower girls and young women to explore and pursue careers in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The theme of International Girls in ICT Day 2023 is “Digital Skills for Life”.
  2. The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates World Immunization Week in the last week of April with an aim to highlight the collective action needed to protect people from vaccine-preventable diseases. In 2023 it is being celebrated from 24 April to 30 April with the theme “The Big Catch-Up”.
  3. The Sharjah Cricket Stadium has honored Indian Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on his 50th birthday on 24 April, 2023 by naming a stand after him.
  4. Prasar Bharati will organize a national conclave on ‘Mann Ki Baat@100’ to commemorate the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio program, Mann Ki Baat.
  5. In a significant development, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted approval for the establishment of the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Kohima, which will become the first medical college in the northeastern state since it gained statehood 60 years ago in 1963.
  6. Manamadurai pottery, a traditional form of pottery from Tamil Nadu, has received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
  7. The Maharashtra Government on 19 April 2023, has approved a four per cent reservation in promotion for Divyang (differently-abled) employees serving across various departments of the Maharashtra Government.

  12. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express train between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod from Thiruvananthapuram Central Station on 25 April, 2023.
  13. In a move aimed at strengthening regional co-operation among India, Iran and Armenia the first trilateral political consultation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the three countries was held in the Armenian capital, Yerevan on 20 April, 2023.
  14. Scientists have discovered the World’s second deepest blue hole in Mexico Coast named Taam Ja' (which means ‘deep water’) at 900 feet deep with an area of 147,000 square feet.
  15. A Japanese lunar lander, carrying a rover developed in the United Arab Emirates, attempted to find its footing on the moon’s surface on 25 April 2023, and potentially mark the world’s first lunar landing for a commercially developed spacecraft.
  16. Parkash Singh Badal, former Chief Minister of Punjab and leader of the Akali Dal, has passed away on 25 April, 2023 at the age of 95 in Mohali.
