  1. International No Diet Day (INDD) is annually observed across the globe on 6 May to promote body positivity, self-acceptance, and the acceptance of all body shapes and sizes, as well as raise awareness about the dangers of dieting. 
  2. Former judge of the Karnataka High Court, P Krishna Bhat, has been appointed by the Delhi High Court as the administrator of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) to conduct elections in the organization.
  3. The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, has launched a scheme, ‘Vivad se Vishwas I – Relief to MSMEs’ for providing relief to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for COVID-19 period.  
  4. To position Ayodhya as a global tourism hotspot, the Uttar Pradesh Government is planning to develop a theme park called ‘Ramaland’, which will be modelled on Disneyland, to narrate the legendary tales of Lord Ram and Ramayana.
  5. Vanessa Hudson has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Qantas Airways Ltd, making her the first woman to hold this position in the airline’s history.
  6. Former Lok Sabha MP Pandit Ramkishan was recently awarded the title of ‘Shatabdi Purush’ (Man of the Century) in New Delhi for his contributions as a socialist leader.  
  7. To honor the sacrifices and contributions made by its Karmyogis in nation building, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is organizing ‘Ekta Evam Shradhanjali Abhiyan’, a multi modal expedition as part of its 64th BRO Day celebrations.

  10. The Union Government has approved the establishment of 157 new government nursing colleges at a cost of 1570 crore in co-location with existing medical colleges in the country.

  12. Dialog Axiata, Sri Lanka’s largest telecommunications provider and a subsidiary of Malaysian Axiata, has announced a binding term sheet with India’s Bharti Airtel for the merger of their Sri Lankan subsidiaries.

  14. The Odisha Government has decided to further extend its sponsorship for both the Men and Women Indian Hockey Teams (senior and junior) for another ten years from 2023 to 2033.
  15. The Indian Navy and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) collaborated to conduct the first successful test trial of a locally-made Air Droppable Container called ‘ADC-150’ from the IL 38SD aircraft off the coast of Goa on 27 April, 2023.
  16. National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) in association with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) organized the ‘River-Cities Alliance (RCA) Global Seminar: Partnership for Building International River-Sensitive Cities’ on 4 May, 2023 in New Delhi.
