  1. World Turtle Day is annually observed across the globe on 23 May to help people celebrate and protect turtles and tortoises and their disappearing habitats around the world. The theme of World Turtle Day 2023 is “I Love Turtles”.
  2. United Nations’ International Day to End Obstetric Fistula is annually observed across the globe on 23 May to raise awareness about Obstetric Fistula and to promote actions towards its prevention, treatment, and eventual elimination. The theme of the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula 2023 is “20 years on – progress but not enough! Act now to end fistula by 2030!”.
  3. The Union Health Ministry has launched an initiative to provide standard care to 75 million individuals suffering from hypertension and diabetes by 2025.
  4. In a significant step towards combating land degradation and promoting sustainable land management practices, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Land Management (CoE-SLM) at the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) in Dehradun.
