  1. International Day of UN Peacekeepers is annually observed across the globe on 29 May to pay tribute to the UN Peacekeepers, the uniformed and civilian personnel, who protect civilians, actively prevent conflict, reduce violence, strengthen security and empower national authorities to assume these responsibilities. The theme of the 75th anniversary of International Day of UN Peacekeepers is “Peace begins with me”. 
  2. International Everest Day is annually celebrated on 29 May to commemorate the first-ever summit of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa of Nepal on 29 May, 1953.
  3. World Digestive Health Day is annually observed on 29 May all over the world to raise awareness and underline the significance of digestive disorders and emphasise the importance of timely diagnosis, prevention and treatment for gastrointestinal diseases or disorders including cancer. The theme of World Digestive Health Day 2023 is “Your Digestive Health: A Healthy gut From the Start”.
  4. International Day of Action for Women’s Health also known as International Women’s Health Day is observed across the globe annually on 28 May to raise awareness about women’s health and well-being, and is dedicated by highlighting the demands for the fulfillment of women’s right to health. The theme of International Day of Action for Women’s Health 2023 is “Our Voices, Our Actions, Our Demand: Uphold Women’s Health and Rights Now”.
  5. Vigilance Commissioner Praveen Kumar Srivastava was on 29 May 2023, sworn in as the Central Vigilance Commissioner.
  6. The Ministry of Finance has announced the launch of a special Rs. 75 coin to commemorate the inauguration of India’s new parliament building, coinciding with the celebration of India’s 75 years of independence.

  8. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on 28 May 2023, announced that Bandra-Versova sea route in Mumbai will be named as Swatantra Veer Savarkar Bandra-Versova Sagari Setu.
  9. Alia Bhatt won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for her role in the film Gangubai Kathiawadi at the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) 2023 held in Abu Dhabi.
  10. India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj on 25 May 2023, received the Dag Hammarskjold Medal in honour of three Indian UN peacekeepers who lost their lives in the line of duty last year.
  11. China’s first domestically developed large passenger jet C919 made its first commercial flight from Shanghai to Beijing.
  12. The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the new building of the High Court of Jharkhand at Ranchi on 24 May, 2023.
  13. Karnataka Bank has announced the appointment of Srikrishnan Harihara Sarma as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
  14. On 28 May 2023, former Indian Cricketer Ambati Rayudu who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, announced his retirement from IPL.  
  15. The first bus to cross the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) was flagged off by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his Deputy Devendra Fadnavis on 24 May, 2023.
  16. Uber has joined hands with public procurement portal Government e-Marketplace (GeM) to provide taxi services to Government offices, Government agencies, and Public Sector Units.
