  1. United Nations’ World Population Day is annually observed across the globe on 11 July to raise awareness and educate individuals about the challenges and consequences associated with global population growth, including their relations to the environment and development. The theme World Population Day 2023 is “Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities”.
  2. Jammu and Kashmir launched India’s first chatbot for people in mental distress, Tele-MANAS chatbot, on 5 July, 2023.
  3. The Election Commission of India and the Electoral Tribunal of Panama on 7 july 2023, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Panama City to establish the institutional framework for their ongoing cooperation in the field of election management and administration.
  4. A 269-member tri-services contingent of the Indian armed forces will march alongside their French counterparts on 14 July, 2023 for the Bastille Day Parade at Champs-Elysees in Paris, France.
  5. The Assam Government informed that it has decided to provide scooters to meritorious students who passed the Higher Secondary examination and will distribute 3.78 lakh bicycles amongst the students of Class IX of the state.
  6. Lakshya Sen clinched the men’s singles title at the 58th Canada Open 2023 by defeating Li Shi Feng, the reigning All England champion.

  8. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan on 8 July 2023, launched the ‘Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojna’ an accident insurance scheme, from Nadia of Kheda district in Gujarat.
  9. Kuwait’s Sheikh Talal Fahad Al Ahmad Al Sabah has been elected as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
  10. The Union Government has cancelled the Foreign Contribution Registration Act (FCRA) licence of the Sadbhavana Trust, a Delhi-based non-governmental organization that has been actively working to empower Dalit and Muslim women.
  11. National Law University (NLU), Delhi, has recently introduced a pioneering academic initiative called ‘Eklavya’, a Research Affiliate programme, aims to strengthen NLU Delhi’s commitment to collaboration and draw upon the expertise and diverse perspectives of individuals without traditional law degrees.
  12. Indian archers Priyansh and Avneet Kaur won gold medal in the Junior Mixed Team Compound Event, defeating Israel in the final of the World Archery Youth Championships in Limerick, Ireland.
  13. Bihar has overtaken Tamil Nadu to become the state with the highest microlending borrowings in India as of March 2023, according to a report released on 5 July, 2023.

  15. The European Space Agency (ESA) has recently launched the Euclid Space Telescope, a specially designed instrument aimed at revolutionizing our understanding of the universe.
  16. Former Barcelona and Inter Milan midfielder Luis Suarez Miramontes, the only Spanish-born men’s footballer to receive Ballon d’Or award, passed away on 9 July 2023, at the age of 88.
