1. National Handloom Day is annually observed on 7 August across India to promote handloom and to recognize and honour the efforts and skills of the handloom weaving community engaged in the sector and the contribution it has made to India’s socio-economic development. The theme of National Handloom Day 2023 is “Handloom for Sustainable Fashion”.
2. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has launched a unique initiative ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ in New Delhi as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
3. Adani Transmission Ltd has renamed itself to Adani Energy Solutions Limited with effect from 27 July, 2023.
4. The 17-year-old chess prodigy, D. Gukesh, has dethroned Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand as India’s top-ranked chess player in the live world rankings.

8. Razorpay has launched a smart account, MoneySaver Export Account for Indian exporters to receive payments locally via bank transfers on the Razorpay Platform.
9. A female cheetah named Dhatri (Tbilisi) which was brought from Namibia in September 2022, recently passed away at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh which brings the total number of deaths to nine.
10. The Finance Ministry of India elevated two major oil sector companies, Oil India and ONGC Videsh, to the esteemed Maharatna and Navratna categories, respectively, granting them increased autonomy for investment, joint venture establishment, and other financial decisions.

13. The Ministry of Education has selected Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to modernise the national education technology platform Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA) which will help make DIKSHA more accessible and lower its IT costs.
14. India’s permanent ambassador to United Nations Ruchira Kamboj has assumed the Chair of the 62^nd session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD) and stressed its crucial role in addressing social challenges.
15. Life Insurance Corporation of India introduced a new term assurance plan ‘Jeevan Kiran’ with effect from 27 July, 2023.
16. On 3 August 2023, Padma Bhushan awardee and 1960 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Gujarat cadre, Nagarajan Vittal passed away in Chennai.
