  1. Every year on 18 April, the United Nations commemorates World Heritage Day. The theme of World Heritage Day 2022 is ‘Heritage and Climate’.
  2. Paytm has become the official digital payments partner for Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya. It will be opened to the public from 21 April, 2022.
  3. Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh has announced that a 165-foot-high Indian National Flag, the tallest in the Northeast, would be hoisted at the Indian National Army (INA) headquarters complex at Moirang in Bishnupur district, Manipur.
  4. India’s first ever radio channel for the visually impaired, named ‘Radio Aksh’ has been launched in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The channel will be available on various internet radio platforms for free.
  5. New Zealand pacer Hamish Bennett announced retirement from all forms of Cricket.
  6. India has been elected to the four major bodies of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), including the Commission on Science and Technology for Development. Ambassador Preeti Saran has also been re-elected to the Committee for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.  
  7. Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2022 is being held from 17th April to 21st April 2022 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
  8. The Regional Connectivity Scheme UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik), the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has been selected for Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2020 under the category ‘Innovation (General) – Central’.
  9. Vikram Dev Dutt has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Air India Asset Holding (AIAHL).
  10.  Indonesia has stopped imports of agricultural products from India, citing a failure by New Delhi officials to register laboratories that evaluate food safety.

  12.  Israel successfully tested a new laser missile-defence system ‘Iron Beam’. It is world’s first energy-based weapons system that uses a laser beam to destroy any airborne object including drones.
  13.  Top Indian swimmer Sajan Prakash won the men’s 200m butterfly gold at the Danish Open swimming meet in Copenhagen, Denmark.
  14.  AIMA Managing India Awards (AIMA) of 2021 has honoured Shoojit Sircar with Director of the Year award for his film Sardar Udham.
  15.  From 18th April 2022, block level health melas are being held by the Union Health Ministry at more than one lakh Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres across India.
