  1. The annual World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally.  This year’s theme of the World Day for safety and Health at Work is “Participation and Social Dialogue in Creating a Positive Safety and Health Culture”.
  2. ‘International Girls in ICT Day’ is marked annually on the fourth Thursday in April. This year International Girls in ICT Day is observed on 28 April.
  3. The former Chief Minister of Meghalaya, James Dringwell Rymbai, died at the age of 88.
  4. Jamtara in Jharkhand has become the only district in the country where all gram Panchayats have community libraries.
  5. According to the Sweden-based think-tank Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) report, titled “Trends in World Military Expenditure Report 2021”, India’s military expenditure is the third highest in the World behind the US and China.
  6. The 2023 ice hockey World Championship will be moved from Russia as it has been banned from hosting the event.
  7. Rajeev Chandrasekhar has announced the launch of the ‘Digital India RISC-V Microprocessor (DIR-V) Program’ on 27 April, 2022.
  8. Union Minister for MSME Narayan Rane inaugurated the Ministry’s month-long event ‘Enterprise India’ under the celebrations of Azadi Ka Mahotsav, on 27 April 2022.
  9. Cabinet has approved nearly 61000 cr subsidy for phosphate-based fertilisers for the upcoming Kharif season.
  10.  The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of an MoU between India and Chile for cooperation in the disability sector.
  11.   The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) announced that Krishnan Ramanujam, President, Enterprise Growth Group at Tata Consultancy Services, has been appointed as its Chairperson for 2022-23.
  12.  Agra, Uttar Pradesh has become the first city in the country to have vaccum-based sewer systems.
  13.  In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Samba District of the Jammu division has become the first district in India to cover 100% of households under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPMJAY)-SEHAT scheme.
  14.  Generali Asia has appointed Bruce de Broize as MD and CEO of ‘Future Generali India Life Insurance’ (FGILI).
  15.  BJP leader and former Union Minister Vijay Sampla has been appointed as the chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) for a second time.
