1. World No Tobacco Day is observed on 31 May globally. The theme of World No Tobacco Day 2022 is “Tobacco: Threat to our environment”.
2. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has formed various committees through the General Insurance Council (GIC) to suggest reforms in several areas of general, reinsurance and life insurance, including regulation, product, and distribution, among others, in order to overhaul the industry.
3. The 17th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short Fiction, and Animation films (MIFF-2022) began with a colourful opening ceremony at the Nehru Centre, Worli in Mumbai.
4. The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), India’s largest insurer, has launched ‘Bima Ratna’– a non-linked, non-participating, individual, savings life insurance plan for providing protection and savings to domestic market.
5. The United States overtook China to become India’s top trading partner in 2021-22, reflecting strong economic ties between the two countries.
6. Noted author and documentary filmmaker Shri Sanjit Narwekar has been conferred with Dr V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award at the 17th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival of India (MIFF 2022) to commemorate his exquisitely deep, remarkably diverse and inspiring body of work.
7. In Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan, India earned its first ever medal at the IBSA Judo Grand Prix.
8. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has launched a new health and wellness app AAYU to address and help heal chronic diseases and lifestyle disorders through yoga. The app has been developed by Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA) with the collaboration of RESET TECH, an AI-driven integrated health-tech platform.

10.  A survey by the Geological Survey of India has stated that a gold reserve of around 222.88 million tonnes including 27.6 tonnes of mineral-rich ore are present in the Jamui district of Bihar.
11.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute the 11th instalment of cash benefits totaling Rs 21,000 crore to more than 10 million farmers in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) initiative.
12.  Radio Jockey Umar Nisar (RJ Umar) from South Kashmir, has been awarded the ‘01 Best Content Award’ and the Immunization Champion award by United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) at the annual Radio4Child 2022 Awards in Mumbai.
13. The Red Bull racing driver Sergio Pérez (Mexican) has won the Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix (GP) De Monaco 2022.
14. A new species of old world monkey, ‘The Sela Macaque’ has been identified. It was geographically separated from the Arunachal Macaque by the Sela, an eastern Himalayan pass located at an altitude of 13,700 feet.
