  1. Every year on 18 July the world marks Nelson Mandela International Day. The theme for Nelson Mandela International Day 2022 is “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are”.
  2. Indian shuttler PV Sindhu clinched her maiden Women’s Single title of the Singapore Open Badminton tournament on 17 July, 2022.
  3. Interglobe Aviation, the parent company of private airline IndiGo, on 16 July 2022 appointed Meleveetil Damodaran as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director. Mr M. Damodaran is a retired IAS officer.
  4. The British government launched an ‘Aviation Passenger Charter’ on 17 July, 2022 to help passengers know their rights if they are faced with problems at airports.
  5. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has partnered with Telangana for Data in Climate Resilient Agriculture (DiCRA).
  6. The Indian Navy’s Kilo-class submarine, INS Sindhudhvaj was decommissioned from service on July 2022 after 35 years of service.
  7. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar has won a gold medal in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) event in the ongoing International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Changwon, Korea.
  8. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has appointed Ashish Kumar Chauhan as the new MD and CEO of the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
  9. UK’s Met Office has issued the first-ever red warning, declaring a national emergency, as temperatures could hit 40°C. Temperatures of 40°C have been forecasted for the first time in the UK.
  10. PM Narendra Modi on 16 July, 2022 inaugurated the Bundelkhand Expressway in the Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh.
  11. Tokyo has been selected as the host city for the 2025 World Athletics Championships. Budapest will host the 2023 edition.
  12. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has announced a 322-member Indian contingent including 215 athletes and 107 officials and support staff to represent the country at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
  13. India is celebrating the 75th year of Independence as Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. This is celebrated by the Ministry of Culture, and on this occasion, the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, organized ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav-22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2022’ from 16th July to 14th August 2022.
  14. Former Punjab Speaker and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader, Nirmal Singh Kahlon has passed away at the age of 79.
