CURRENT AFFAIRS OF  8th AUGUST 2022

  1. The 80th anniversary of the August Kranti Din or Quit India Movement, which is considered as one of the important milestones in the history of the freedom struggle of our country, is being observed on 8 August, 2022.
  2. India will host diplomats and officials from all 15 countries of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for a special meeting on terrorism in Delhi and Mumbai in October 2022.
  3. Andhra Pradesh government on 4 August, 2022 signed an MoU with National Institute for Smart Government (NISG).
  4. Senior scientist Nallathamby Kalaiselvi was on 6 August, 2022 appointed as the first woman Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
  5. The Goa government will implement a hundred percent of the syllabus in higher education institutes along the lines of the National Education Policy from the next academic year.
  6. Kannan Sundaram, publisher of Kalachuvadu has been conferred with the Knight of the Order of the Merit (Chevalier award) by the French government.
  7. Kerala’s jumper Eldhose Paul, on 7 August 2022 became the first Indian to win a Gold medal in the men’s triple jump at the Commonwealth games.
  8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the seventh meeting of the NITI Aayog Governing Council held in New Delhi on 7 August, 2022.
  9. International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Regional Standardization Forum for Asia and Oceania region has began in New Delhi from 8 August 2022.
  10.  Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen on 7 August, 2022 won the gold medal in the women’s 50 kg light flyweight event at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
  11.  Viswanathan Anand, the five-time world chess champion, was on 7 August, 2022 elected the deputy president of FIDE (International Chess Federation).
  12.   The Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing a centrally-sponsored scheme ‘Mission Vatslya’ erstwhile Child Protection Services (CPS) scheme, since 2009-10 for the welfare and rehabilitation of children.
  13.  India has won 61 medals including 22 Gold, 16 Silver and 23 Bronze medals at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. India is ranking 4th in the medal tally with 61 medals while Australia is ranking first on the medal tally.
