  1. World Biofuel Day is commemorated on 10 August every year to raise awareness about the use of non-fossil fuels as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels.
  2. World Lion Day is observed globally on 10 August. The day aims to spread awareness about lions and the urgent need to strive towards their conservation.
  3. In Colombia, the first leftist President Gustavo Petro was sworn into office on 7 August, 2022.
  4. The 13th Edition of the Indo-US Joint Special Forces exercise ‘Ex Vajra Prahar 2022’ commenced in Himachal Pradesh’s Bakloh on 8 August, 2022.
  5. The 12th edition of DefExpo will be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat between 18-22 October, 2022.  
  6. Emma McKeon from Australia has won a total of 1 silver, 1 bronze and 6 gold medals across various events in swimming at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She has set an unique world record by winning more medals than a total of 56 nations/territories at the multi-nation sporting event.  
  7.  The Indian Army has conducted a pan-India satellite communication exercise named ‘Ex Skylight’, in the last week of July.
  8. Union Minister Of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia along with MoCA Minister of State (MoS) General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.) on 7 August, 2022 virtually flagged off the first flight of Akasa Air between Mumbai (Maharashtra)-Ahmedabad (Gujarat) route.

  11.  On 7 August, 2022, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its first 34 metre tall Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) to place an earth observation satellite, EOS-02 and students satellite AzaadiSAT.
  12. In the absence of Russia and China, the young Uzbek team surprised everyone by winning the gold medal at the Chess Olympiad in Chennai. Uzbekistan will host the 2026 Chess Olympiad.
  13.  American legend Serena Williams, winner of 23 Grand Slam titles, announced her retirement from tennis on 9 August, 2022.
