  1. Every year, World Mosquito Day is observed on 20 August. The theme of 2022: “Harness innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden and save lives”.
  2. The 17th  Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) will be held at Indore in January 2023.
  3. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on 18 August, 2022 signed an MoU for opening its first international marketing and sales office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
  4. ‘Goa’ and ‘Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu’ have become the first ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certified State and UT in the country respectively.
  5. Highways and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on 18 August, 2022 unveiled India’s first electric double decker bus in Mumbai.
  6. Union Minister of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Parshottam Rupala on 18 August, 2022 launched an online marketplace application ‘Aqua Bazar’.
  7. Madhya Pradesh’s tribal-dominated ‘Mandla’ region has become the first fully ‘functionally literate’ district in the country.
  8. Paralympian Rahul Jakhar on 18 August, 2022 won the gold medal at the 2022 WSPS Shooting World Cup in Changwon, South Korea.
  9. Manisha Kalyan has become the first Indian footballer to play at the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
  10.  Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated a National Seminar on ‘Introspection: Armed Forces Tribunal’ on 20 August, 2022.  
  11.  Bajaj Electricals has elevated its Executive Director Anuj Poddar to Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
  12.  The Border Security Force (BSF) has signed an MoU with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
  13.  Kerala’s first tribal novelist and short story writer, Narayan passed away at the age of 82 on 16 August, 2022.
  14.  The Central Govt on 19 August, 2022 extended the term of Union home secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla by one year to 22 August, 2023. 
  15.  Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has announced that ‘Dahi-Handi’ will now be recognised as an official sport in the state.
