  1. International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism is observed on 21 August each year in memory of the victims of terrorism.
  2. World Senior Citizens’ Day is celebrated on 21 August every year. It is also known as National Senior Citizens’ Day in the United States.
  3. Every year on the 20th of August India observes Akshay Urja Diwas or Renewable Energy Day.
  4. India celebrates Sadbhavna Diwas in memory of Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary. Sadbhavana Diwas 2022 commemorates the 78th birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi on 20th August 2022.
  5. 19 August 2022 marked the 104th birth anniversary of former President Dr Shanker Dayal Sharma.
  6. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) handed two pieces of space equipment to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for use in the Gaganyaan mission.
  7. Bengaluru will host the FIBA U-18 women’s Asian Basketball Championship beginning on 5 September.
  8. Local governments of Scotland are now required by law of Scotland to offer free sanitary products like tampons and pads to anyone who needs them.
  9. Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has a memoir coming out this fall. ‘Bibi: My Story’ will be published Nov. 22, three weeks after parliamentary elections are to be held in Israel. 
  10. An Indian Parliamentary delegation led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will be attending the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference at Halifax in Canada.
  11.  External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will pay an official visit to Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina from 22-27 August, 2022.
  12. Former India football team captain Samar ‘Badru’ Banerjee, who led the country to a historic fourth-place finish in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, passed away in August 2022.
  13.  Israeli President Isaac Herzog unveiled the Hebrew Translation of the book, ‘Indians at Herod’s Gate: A Jerusalem Tale’ written by the former Ambassador of India, Navtej sarna on the celebration of the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.
  14.  The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced the appointment of Indian philanthropist Ashish Dhawan, founder and CEO of Convergence Foundation, to its board of trustees.
  15.  The Punjab and Haryana governments have agreed to name the Chandigarh International Airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
